On Mondays at school, we wear a special blue shirt and honor the Mexican flag. Today was the first time we did it. We did the pledge except it wasn’t actually the pledge, it was a song about Mexico. We put our hands like you would do for the pledge, but with them sort of lifted up. It was in our playground. I didn’t know the song, but I just sort of followed along. Instead of “Mexico” it was pronounced “Meheeko.”
It was fun except that we had to stand up for all of it. I wanted to sit down but the teacher said I couldn’t. I tried to but it didn’t work. I was sort of bending my knees a little bit, but I was allowed to to do that though.
My friends were at the honoring of the flag, and the whole school. It was in the middle of the day and everyone went out to the basketball field. There was one student actually holding the flag, and there were a couple of other students marching with the student holding the flag. They were marching in the middle of where we were. Everyone was wearing blue shirts or white shirts. The people marching were wearing white shirts. It was a little serious. I really liked it.
